PLAY TO YOUR STRENGTHS
Do you understand your leadership strengths? Should you focus on leveraging your strengths or fixing your weaknesses? Great leaders focus on their strengths. It’s your strengths that are going to carry you forward, not your weaknesses, so identify your most powerful attributes and use them. Based on the Gallup Strengthsfinder self assessment tool, this is a descriptive and affirmative approach to exploring strengths. Participants take the Strengthsfinder survey before attending Women in Conversation networking events.
Inspired by Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg, we discuss the idea of ‘taking your place at the leadership table’. We unpack the barriers and assumptions that prevent women stepping up to the table in terms of leadership and power. Sandberg notes that women are still getting lost somewhere along the path to leadership, and she’s right. In Australia, only 15% of ASX 200 Board members are women. Let’s discuss what we can do about it.
Some people light up the room with their communication style, their authenticity, and their ease in connecting: in other words, their presence. In this topic we discuss what it is that makes some people great communicators, and how you can you learn the skills of connecting and building rapport with an audience?
Super bosses have a powerful impact on their people and organisation. These exceptional leaders build great teams, identify talent, inspire great work and nurture careers. We share stories of super bosses who find, develop, and grow teams of talented individuals to unleash creativity and innovation. Whether you aim to be a super boss or to work with one, this is a fascinating topic.
Standout Strengths is about how you come across to others – how you ‘standout’. This conversation works well alone or in tandem with Play to Your Strengths. Standout is designed to help us ‘find our edge’. Standout distils your strengths into two key roles, and provides a platform to help you fully activate and leverage your strengths. Participants will take the new Standout Strengths Assessment developed by Marcus Buckingham prior to the forum.
Personal branding is less about appearances and more about substance. It’s about self-identity, finding your unique voice and feeling comfortable in your own skin. It’s about understanding your strengths and talents and using those to your benefit in your professional life. In this conversation we explore personal branding and work together.
