Course Overview

The Women Leading Program equips women in leadership roles to develop the critical skills of those who are seeking to lead and influence.

Participants preparing to transition into senior management will deepen their leadership knowledge by reflecting on crucial moments and honing approaches to challenging situations.

The program is delivered online via live video stream and is a uniquely engaging experience. Delivered over 6 months, the program is centred around 5 x 2.5-hour workshops that focus on leadership theory and practice, career and personal development. Between workshops, participants receive one-on-one coaching from a senior executive coach, as well as content and collaboration through a workplace group.

This is an interactive and participatory program and an opportunity to develop lasting relationships and a powerful professional network. It is guaranteed to have a positive impact on each individual.

The program provides opportunities to take a critical look at each participants’ career, leadership and personal strengths.

Complete the Program in 6 Game Changing Months

Led by a female team of dynamic, experienced and executive women who have worked across an extensive array of industries, who’ll guide you through your journey of leadership and personal discovery. Starting off with identifying your personal strengths through the Gallup Strengths Assessment tool, you’ll learn the most effective way to embrace your leadership style. At the conclusion of the program you’ll have developed your career map and identified your personal brand to assist you in enhancing your leadership impact and career development.

Module 01

Leading with Strengths

Utilising the Gallup Strength finder 2.0 inventory, each participant will identify, own and use their own unique Strengths.  We explore how they are currently using their strengths, and how a strengths-based approach will enhance future practice.  We discuss implications for teams, performance management and team dynamics.  Participants will gain a clear understanding of the Strengths model, their own Strength Report and a plan for implementation.

Module 02

Driving for Career Success

Planning and taking action are critical to achieving the career success that participants would like.  We look at the elements of career success, including branding, networks and strategies.  Participants will create a career map, and take away an action-oriented plan.  Participants will also take away the inspiration and motivation to be the best that they can be, and reach for what they want.

Module 03

Leadership and Strategic Thinking

Leadership in today’s complex, ambiguous and ever-changing context requires trust.  Research tells us that the most authentic leaders have a solid foundation of values and purpose that elicits that trust.  These are leaders who know who they are and what they stand for.  In this highly interactive and thoughtful workshop, participants consider themselves through a variety of lenses to hone their authentic and resilient leadership self.

This includes two areas of focus:

  • We examine pivotal turning points, how strengths were deployed at these points and what this means for each participant as a leader today,
  • We explore self-regulation, managing our mind and our behaviour, so participants are well prepared to lead others with all the challenges of the current and future public sector environment.  These skills are specifically important for strategic thinking and innovation.

Module 04

Power in the Networking

In today’s world, networking is a necessity.  A mountain of research shows that professional networks lead to more job and business opportunities, broader and deeper knowledge, improved capacity to innovate, faster advancement, and greater status and authority.  Relationships are key to success in any industry.  Your network gives you power and is one of your most important competitive advantages.  We will introduce networking strategies to help you build your networking plan and build your confidence as networker.  In this practical and interactive workshop we share ideas and inspiration to make networking a meaningful and integral part of professional life.

Module 05

Presence and Status

We look at our ease, authenticity and power in connecting with others.  Executive presence is the external manifestation of deep inner conviction, confidence, insight and the ability to handle unexpected situations.  This is an action packed and participatory session, challenging participants to be their uniquely powerful and influential self.

Module 06

Define your Brand

Developing your personal brand is essential for the advancement of your career and development as a leader.  Personal branding, much like social media, is about making a full time commitment to defining yourself as a leader and how this will shape the manner in which you will serve others.  We explore strategies for managing your personal brand as a trademark; an asset that you must protect while continuously moulding and shaping it.  We will pin down what you want your brand to look like and where to focus.

Module 07

Influencing with Impact

In today’s highly connected world, success depends on quickly building and sustaining working relationships quickly.  Working collaboratively is easier when we have the skills to spot tensions and resolve them in ways that keep everyone on board.  We share techniques for surfacing issues and generating innovative resolutions.

Module 08

The Art of Storytelling

Storytelling is one of the most powerful tools for building your career.

In this powerful session we look at participants’ own leadership journey, the strengths they have worked with, and their “resilience moments”.  At the end of this workshop, participants will walk away with a powerful leadership brand story and clear statements of what they Can, Will and Do as leaders
